Light It Up

40’ x 60’ Wall Mural

Spurs Sports & Entertainment at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas

The AT&T Center had just undergone major upgrades and updating their art collection was part of the project. I was commissioned by art curator, Alice Foultz, to create a piece that reflected the aspects of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. The first step for me was research, research, research and brainstorm. It had to be fun and exciting. Luckily, I was familiar with the brand and had attended many events and games there. As part of my research, I interviewed fans and friends and family on what they loved and associated with the Spurs, and what taglines and slang they thought was current and cool.

I worked on every aspect of this project, from concept and design to production. We smoothly went through two design reviews before the final design. I received three quotes for the production and hired Cold Fire Signs for the printing and installation, which went very well. An additional element for this project which I thought would be great would be to create merchandise from some of the characters (the mariachi, basketball player, etc.) in the form of stickers, T-shirts or posters.

Jumbo Tron Wall Mural

18’ x 15’

Spurs Sports & Entertainment at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas

I was hired by Spurs Sports and Entertainment to do a second wall mural. The goal was to reflect the aspects of Spurs, Sports & Entertainment using new imagery but in the same style. I worked on every aspect of this project, from concept and design to production. I worked with Cold Fire Signs for the printing and installation. A new Jumbo Tron was installed in the arena and all the fans love it so I made a stylized version with imagery and quotes that would get people pumped up.

Living the Dream Mini Mural

70 in x 32.5 in x 24 in

Digital design printed on vinyl and wrapped on utility box, Houston, Texas

Mini Murals is a project that reimagines traffic signal control cabinets (also referred to as electrical or utility boxes) as blank canvases . Once painted by local and visiting artists, the cabinets, which can be found at intersections with a traffic signal, are intended to help instill civic pride while beautifying neighborhoods and enhancing the urban landscape.

2009

I received the commission from Public Art San Antonio to create a public art piece as part of other park improvements. I worked closely with landscape architecture firm, Bender Wells and Clark and the board of Public Art San Antonio. I worked on concept, design and production. I coordinated the hiring of a local fabricator for the production and installation.
